Abu Dhabi in one day: the English-speaking driver option

To discover the capital of the Emirates without going over budget, this option combines a private vehicle for up to six people with an English-speaking driver who takes you from one site to the next and gives you practical pointers. With six people, the price works out at around 142 AED per person.

What you see during the day

Departure is at 9:30 am from your hotel. On the road to Abu Dhabi, you make a photo stop at Ferrari World on Yas Island. You then visit Heritage Village, drive along the Corniche and stop in front of the Emirates Palace. The day ends at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, before the return drive of about 1.5 hours.

What to expect with an English-speaking driver

Your driver is in charge of the route and the timing, and tells you the entrances and the best moments for each site. This is not a detailed guided tour in French: if you want a guide's explanations, look at the French-speaking Abu Dhabi tour instead. In return, this option is significantly cheaper for a group.

Preparing for the mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a place of worship: wear loose clothing that covers your arms and legs, and bring a scarf for women (abayas are usually lent at the entrance). Access may be limited on Friday mornings, the day of prayer. Read our guide on what to wear in Dubai and the Emirates before you go.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference with the French-speaking tour?
The French-speaking tour includes a guide who gives commentary in French, an 8:00 am departure and additional stops (Louvre, dates market). This option is cheaper and shorter.

Can we stay longer at a place?
The vehicle is private, which generally leaves some flexibility on stops. Tell your driver what you would like in the morning so that he can organise the day accordingly.

How long is the drive from Dubai?
Allow about 1.5 hours to reach Abu Dhabi, depending on traffic. The return journey takes the same time.
